Bear Paw - Finally!

I've held on to this UFO for a long time.  I made the top over 10 years ago.  Two years ago I made the back.  Luckily I saved the left over fabric!  Last year I quilted it.  This year I finally put on a binding and finished it.

I quilted a square spiral. (Is that a thing?)  I started with a small square in the middle and worked my way out with random spacing in between the lines.  The end result it a bit wavy.  I'm not sure if that's due to the quilting or the fact that the top was not quite flat or square.

The bear belonging to all those paws can be found on the back.

I like the colors and the design, but the workmanship is not great and the fabrics are cheap.

Since the bear looks like he's tucked into a sleeping bag I think this is destined to be a camping quilt!

  3. Hooray for a finished UFO! The quilting looks great! I did the same spiral thing with a triangle before and had the same experience. Kind of a wonky pull it puts on it. That bear looks pretty happy to be finished and I love those bright bear paws!

    1. Thanks Lorna! I've done a spiral on other quilts and didn't have a problem. But this is the first quilt where I didn't follow the seam lines in my spiral quilting and I suspect that's why it got so distorted.

    1. Have fun with it! I like the spiral because it uses a walking foot and you don't need to lift the needle until you run out of thread.

  8. Love your paws! What bright, pretty colors. Don't down grade your work! It is fine. Quilts are made to be loved. Camping is a fine place to have some paws. :-) K-

    1. It's a huge relief to be finished finally. I like the quilt a lot so I'm not sure why I procrastinated so much. Good luck with yours!
