Toddler Blocks

Merry Christmas!  On a special day I thought I should share a special quilt.

This is another quilt for the Empress.  I made this before we knew the age or gender of the child we would adopt.  It's hard to find gender neutral fabrics for toddlers!

It's a twin sized quilt and I sent it out for quilting.  At the time I didn't have the confidence to quilt something that large at home.

Recently we bought the Empress a day bed and this quilt is just a little too big.  It would have been perfect for a regular twin bed.  Add one more project to the todo list....

I completed this quilt in 2014.  I finally found the time to photograph it.

  1. That is a terrific quilt! I know what you mean about finding time to photograph! It's too cold here lately to want to venture outdoors much which is where I like to do quilt photography, so dark indoor pics is all my followers are getting until spring LOL

    1. It's been so rainy here (thankfully) so I'm also stuck with indoor photos. This quilt was tough to photograph indoors but oh well :) Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I like that you made a quilt the Empress can grow up with, I am trying to do the same when I make quilts for my nieces. I have yet to make them anything larger than a lap quilt though!

    1. The best part of her quilt is the "I love you patch" on the back (my name patch). When we first adopted the Empress we talked about the I love you patch on her baby quilt every night before going to bed. She was excited to see that her big girl quilt also has an I love you patch. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I like the fabrics quite a bit, and the design is minimalist fun.
